Introduction and Background

SEABACS Past and Present

The SEABACS Boat Club was founded in 1961. Forty-plus years later, we conduct many organized, well run activities that are enjoyed by a very active membership consisting of both power and sail boaters. "SEABACS have more fun" has become our motto proclaiming a love of boating! Old time traditional activities such as the annual Commodore's Ball, South Sound Opening Day and New Year's Eve party remain SEABACS favorites. Among the more recent traditions providing us with fun and interesting cruises are the Blake Island work party, scavenger hunts, dinghy rafts, the Past Commodores Surprise Cruise, and the Daffodil Parade.

Our members annually support community events especially during the Christmas season with food donations, stuffed animal parties and we join fellow clubs for lighted and decorated boat parades. SEABACS maintains memberships in Recreational Boating Association of Washington, the Northwest Boating Council, National Boating Federation, BOAT/U.S. for the benefit of our members at large.

Each year, SEABACS members plan and organize a schedule of over twenty-five cruises and events, beginning in January with a "Cold Weather Cruise" on through Thanksgiving and culminating in a New Year's Eve party on the water. Parties, potlucks, dances, raffles, auctions, and contests, planned or otherwise, add fun to club gatherings an strengthen friendships. Summer and vacation time bring long cruises and rendezvous in distant San Juan and Canadian waters. Our friendship is extended to all fellow boaters, whether yours is a runabout, a fish boat, a fine yacht, a dinghy or just a fond dream for the future.

So, come join us for fun and boating pleasure on our Northwest waters. Remember though, let us all keep boating safety in mind. Safe boating and fun boating go hand in hand.
