The Boeing Employees Boat Club
Introduction and Background
SEABACS Past and Present
The SEABACS Boat Club was founded in 1961. Almost fifty years later, we conduct many organized, well run activities that are enjoyed by a very active membership consisting of both power and sail boaters.
“SEABACS have more fun” has become our motto which is what we do in celebration of our love of boating here on Puget Sound and beyond! Each year, SEABACS members participate in over twenty cruises and events, beginning in January with the NBC President’s Dinner on through Thanksgiving and Christmas, and culminating in a New Year’s Eve event. Traditional activities such as our annual Commodore’s Ball, the Daffodil Regatta, the South Sound and Seattle Opening Day Festivities remain SEABACS’ favorites.
Land and sea cruises to destinations around the region are planned annually to sites old and new. An array of activities and adventures — potlucks, fishing derbies, fireworks, anchor outs, art fairs, scavenger hunts, farmers’ markets, dance lessons, dinghy races, shop trolling, casino visits, games and contests — interspersed with a good measure of rest and relaxation keep us occupied and entertained. Each marina offers interesting possibilities to explore, and we take advantage of whatever is there. Best of all is just being out on the water in good company.
Our members annually support community events, especially during the Christmas season with food donations, and participation with fellow clubs for the Special People’s Holiday Cruise as well as lighted boat parade. The SEABACS club maintains memberships in the Northwest Boating Council, the National Boating Federation, and BOAT/U.S. for the benefit of our members.
SEABACS membership means that you have friends out on the water. Newcomers learn from old hands, and all lend a hand when needed. Information on boating safety, maintenance and repair, navigation, seamanship and best practices is yours for the asking and you usually don’t even have to ask. Summer and vacation time bring longer cruises and rendezvous in more distant ports. It’s safer and more fun to travel with a group. We hope you’ll join us.
Our friendship is extended to all fellow boaters, whether yours is a runabout, a fishing boat, a fine yacht, a dinghy or just a fond dream for the future. Our membership is open to all Boeing employees, active or retired and their immediate families, as well as to Boeing contractors. So, come join us for fun and boating pleasure on our Northwest waters. Remember, let us all keep boating safety in mind. Safe boating and fun boating go hand in hand.
